My Sermon from Sunday, June 20th 2010

4th Sunday after Pentecost ~ "Untying the Knots"

O Lord, grant us serenity to accept the things we cannot change,
courage to change the things we can,
and the wisdom to know the difference. Amen.

This week has been a real challenge for me in terms of picking one distinct theme to preach on. The scripture that has been appointed for today, the 4th Sunday after Pentecost, is rich with many themes of healing, grace, reconciliation and ecumenical insight and understanding. I don’t want to preach very long as our children receiving their First Communion today are upstairs for the whole service and I don’t want their first experience of a sermon to bore them to tears and to put them to sleep. 9th Sunday after Pentecost ~ "Signs Of God"

O Lord, grant us serenity to accept the things we cannot changeCourage to change the things we can And the wisdom to know the difference. Amen.

I realized that the store has been re-arranged and that customers are no longer supposed to come in the back door. I apologized to the staff. As I was leaving, I glanced at the back door and to my surprise saw a sign on the back door saying: 'Customers, Please Use The Front Door!'

My Sermon from Easter Sunday, April 4th, 2010

Sunday of The Resurrection ~ "Newness Of Life"

I speak to you in the name of the Risen Christ. Alleluia!

Less than 2 weeks ago, I experienced something that many of you here this morning have already experienced. I became a grandmother for the first time. Now everyone in the parish is calling me "Gramma." I don’t have to be concerned anymore about what a female priest is called: 'Reverend,' 'Mother,' 'Rector,' or 'Vicar'? Now, it’s Gramma.
