Is Jesus History

In a sermon preached on October 30, 2022, Archdeacon Deborah reminded us that every Christian needs to experience three conversions—of the heart, the head, and the pocketbook.

Perhaps the easiest is of the heart but what do we rationally know about Jesus and his era? Is it possible that Jesus never even existed or alternately, that if he did exist, all the stories about him were invented legends with no factual basis?
This session examines the very considerable historical basis of Jesus and his times as presented by a brief, clear, and down-to-earth examination of the evidence by Australian Anglican priest and historian John Dickson. Dickson writes and speaks engagingly and personably in a very accessible and conversational style, almost like ‘having a coffee (or a pint) with him’ as one reader suggests. We can’t provide the pint, but we will have time for a coffee or tea, and a treat!
